Online Watercolor Painting Demo

I’ll be doing an online painting demo as part of my Virtual Open Studio on Saturday, January 17th, 2026.

The starkness of snow-covered winter landscapes all stems from the contrast of light and dark. The character of winter rural scenes is further defined in the contrast of organic elements with man-made impositions; fences, plowing furrows, barns building, roads and trails, etc. The snow blanket hides some of this opposition. What’s left behind is often a compelling alternating and varying pattern of rhythms and movement. It is hard to overlook as subject matter with many compositional possibilities.

Much of my work is concerned with capturing light on the landscape. But these compelling winter patterned scenes are perfect for exploring expression of rythmn and movement with brush stroke and texture. The demo on January 17th will do just that.

The demo begins at 12:00 Noon. Join the Zoom virtual meeting using the link on the Studio Gallery page.

The demo is just one of three events planned for the virtual open studio event. The other two are a virtual studio tour with the presentation and discussion about a currently available collection of winter landscape scenes

And, don’t miss, at 3:45, a live drawing to pick the winner of the painting raffle.

I hope you’ll be able to join me for at least part of this virtual open studio!
